This is a production technique that involves forcing a powder into a closed tool under high pressure to produce the shape of the component. The component is given its final properties through heating in a controlled atmosphere (sintering).
Sintering can be used to manufacture relatively complex components, whose final shape is created without – or with very little – post-processing. The material always features a certain number of microscopic pores that can be filled with oil through impregnation. This makes the components self-lubricating.
